Art Panels
The Panel is an increasingly popular and historically significant painting structure. Before canvas and linen, artists painted on wood. Artists can now work on wood, Gatorboard, Sintra, and many other modern surfaces...each with unique characteristics.
Among its attributes, the panel provides:
• A surface for any medium.
• A rigid painting surface which accommodates scraping, pushing, scratching and the attachment of objects or relief materials.
• An easily shaped structure, capable of being built to virtually any shape (see CUSTOM WORK).
• A surface to which objects or relief elements can be easily and permanently attached.
• A ready-to-paint surface, or one over which canvas or linen can be easily stretched and prepared.
Premium Panels
Our PREMIUM PANELS utilize clear Basswood “cradles” or backing frames, surfaced with either furniture-grade birch plywood, Sintra (PVC sheet), Gatorboard, ULTRALIGHT MDF, TYCORE cellulose fiber Honeycomb panel, or any other material of your choice. We laminate the surface material with appropriate adhesives (aliphatic resin glue/polyurethane glue) & 18g moisture-resistant galvanized brads. All holes & seams are filled with resin filler and sanded ultra smooth.
Panel depths are custom to each artist...1-½, 2”, 3”, etc...with any other depth available per your specific aesthetic or structural needs. These panels can also be built as CIRCLES (Tondos), SHAPES of all kinds (triangle, quadrangle, Trapezoids, altar-piece shape or any other shape required) using state-of-the-art CNC technology.
Our custom priming is hand-applied and we can fully stretch canvas or linen over any of our panels. We cannot do any laminating or glueing/attaching of fabric or paper to our panels, but they work perfectly for clients to do it themselves.
